Learn about Season One’s puzzling new kind of adventure, the Nowhere Vault.
Arriving with the launch of Update 51 on September 28, the Nowhere Vault challenges players to explore a mystifying new PvE experience for solo or group play, with special rewards for those who can unravel its myriad mysteries.
Nowhere in Particular
“The Nowhere Vault exists in a space outside Nirn itself,” explains Jason Barnes, ESO’s Associate Design Director. “Not quite a Daedric plane, but a plane of Sage Voernet’s own choosing. It was created not only to house rare treasures and artifacts, but to test adventurers Voernet deemed worthy of its challenges.”
Any adventurer with a Nowhere Key can face the trials of the vault, and with the help of Voernet’s enigmatic assistant, you can put your skills to the test.
“Urli, a creation of Sage Voernet and Curator of the Nowhere Vault, summons the player after a previous group of adventurers causes a disturbance within. Beyond helping restore the vault, players are invited to face Voernet’s challenges and prove whether they are worthy of its trials.”

Central to this new experience, of course, is the inclusion of puzzle rooms, which offer different kinds of challenges for its would-be explorers.
“The vault tests more than just combat, as it challenges the players’ wit, mobility, stealth, and awareness,” explains Barnes. “Players will navigate mazes, cross dangerous mushroom-filled chasms, battle Voernet’s creations, and pursue optional objectives hidden throughout its rooms.”

Replayable Secrets
Should you struggle with this new challenge, don’t fret, the Nowhere Vault was designed with replayability in mind, with each run having its own path to success.
“The vault is designed to be replayed, with randomized room order and variations within many of the rooms themselves,” explains Barnes. “Players can hunt for secret chests and hidden discoveries, with a chance to stumble into special ‘jackpot’ rooms overflowing with treasure chests and resource nodes.”
Moreso than any traditional encounter, the Nowhere Vault rewards the curious with bonus rewards, and as a stronghold for esoteric treasures, the vault contains riches commensurate with the challenge of its exploration.
“The Nowhere Vault is packed with treasures, including furnishings, Antiquity leads, new Skill Styles, Archival Fortunes, and more,” says Barnes. “Adventurers who delve deep enough into its secrets can even unlock a unique Quasigriff mount.”
