Player feedback and a recent update have resulted in changes to the Tamriel Tomes reward system.
With the recent Update 51 base-game patch, the team included a series of improvements to the Tamriel Tomes system that immediately impacts your Tome in various ways. Of note, many of these changes were prompted by direct feedback provided by the community!
Let’s take a closer look at the specific changes as we near the end of Season One.
Tome Points Rollover
If you completely max out your Tome and then some, the end-of-season rollover cap for Tome Points has been increased to 5,000, up from 2,000. What does this mean? It is now possible to instantly unlock up to two and a half pages of the next Season’s Tome in advance!
Beyond this new 5,000-point rollover cap, any additional Tome Points are converted to gold at a new 25 Gold per 1 Tome Point rate. This is a big jump from the previous 10 Gold per 1 Tome Point offering.
In addition, Tome page rewards that have a currency with a cap, such as Transmute Crystals, are no longer claimable if claiming that reward would put you above its currency cap. This is also the case for the end-of-season auto-claimer. This ensures you don’t waste Tome Points on rewards you can’t utilize.
You will see these changes for yourself when Season One ends and Season Two begins on October 21.
Weekly Challenge Changes
The team also received feedback regarding Tome Weekly Challenges and has made a series of changes as a result.
Gold Reroll Changes
If you wish to reroll your Weekly Challenges, the team has made improvements to the gold cost ramp curve to help smooth it out. Rerolling now starts at 500 Gold and increases to 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500, 5,000, and finally 10,000 Gold. The final cap remains 10,000 Gold. This change was implemented with Update 51 in September.
Season Two Weekly Challenge Changes
With the start of Season Two on October 21, you will see more Challenges accommodate more varieties of playstyles. With this change, Weekly Challenges will be easier than ever for players of all stripes to access and complete.
For example, in Season Zero and Season One, we had separate Challenges for Harvesting where each would ask you to ultimately collect 90 of the resources for the full reward. For Season Two and onward, this has become more flexible and is now “Collect Resources by Fishing, Hunting, and Harvesting” with any node, critter, or fish adding to progress and requiring only 80 resources total to complete.
Note that Tomes will continue to have challenges themed toward the Season or a specific milestone or event, but overall, players will see a greater volume of Weekly Challenges that cover broader gameplay elements.
In addition, completed Weekly Challenges will reward 400, 450, or 500 Tome Points, based on their estimated effort or difficulty. The team’s goal with this change is to reduce the discrepancy between Tome Point reward totals among different Challenges, making it easier to choose the Challenge you want to do, without affecting overall progression.
For example, the prior individual harvest Challenges previously rewarded a total of 360 Tome Points, while the new combined collect resources Challenge rewards a total of 400 Tome Points.
Tamriel Tome Polish
Also completed with Update 51 was a general polish pass on various Weekly and Seasonal Challenges. This includes improvements to HUD icons and visual tweaks to help improve at-a-glance readability.
Furthermore, pinned Challenges will now automatically unpin after you fully complete the Challenge, including all repeat ones.
Finally, the Daily Login Seasonal Challenge has been updated to show you can claim it an infinite number of times, rather than 99. This is in support of Seasons of different durations, but its core functionality as a Challenge does not change.
