Joining a guild is a wonderful way to get the most out of your time in Tamriel. If you’re looking for a community of like-minded players, here’s a quick-and-easy guide to using the in-game Guild Finder tool!

Why Join a Guild?

The Elder Scrolls Online has a lot of challenging activities that are best handled with a group of allies, and although you can seek out other nearby players to help you slay that world boss or bring down the walls of Chalman Keep, it’s much easier to find them if they’re part of your guild.

Of course, a guild’s value is not solely to help you find people to play with—it’s also your in-game social hub where you can chat, ask questions, trade, and create a community. A guild can have up to 500 members, and you can join up to five guilds per account. That’s a massive group of players ready to join you in your adventures.

At its core, that’s what guilds are in ESO: communities of likeminded players enjoying Tamriel together. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to find a guild!

Finding Your Ideal Guild

If you want to join a guild, you can certainly ask around in your local zone chat or even reach out to other players directly. That said, the best way to find your new community is to use the Guild Finder tool.

To get started, open the Guild Finder tool within the Guilds UI menu (hit the “G” key and select Guild Finder from the dropdown on PC/Mac or navigate to your Social menu and then select Guild on consoles).

From the Guild Finder, you can browse all Tamriel’s recruiting guilds by selecting from the following categories:

  • Trading—Guilds that predominately focus on trading goods and earning gold via the Guild Trader system
  • Group PvE—Guilds that enjoy PvE challenges such as Dungeons, Trials, and Group Arenas
  • Roleplaying—Guilds that feature roleplaying and roleplaying events
  • Social—Relaxed guilds that enjoy good company without a hard focus on any one activity
  • PvP—Guilds that predominantly battle in the Alliance War or Battlegrounds PvP modes
  • Questing—Guilds that focus on questing and adventuring in Tamriel
  • Crafting—Guilds that focus on the various Crafting Skill Lines and creation of your own gear, furnishings, and consumables

As you can see, a lot of different types of guilds exist, although it’s worth noting that most guilds enjoy many different types of in-game activities and these categories simply help them communicate their core focus.

In addition to these categories, you can also select from unique filters, including more specific activity filters and playstyle filters for “Balanced,” “Casual,” and “Hardcore.” Whatever your experience level and needs, the Guild Finder can help you find your community.
